Shoppers are ditching ‘age old’ irons and ironing boards for an affordable and ‘convenient’ gadget that’s also perfect for hand luggage. The Philips Series 3000 Garment Steamer is usually £21.99 – but there’s a way to get it for under £7
Compact and foldable, the steamer is ideal for ensuring outfits are wrinkle free, freshening up garments or touching up upholstery. Suitable on curtains, headboards, mattresses, clothing and more, it heats up in 30 seconds, with an ample 100ml water tank that avoids frequent refills
Weighing just 0.77kg, it’s lightweight to handle, making it a as it will slip into hand luggage without taking up space or weighing down bags. What’s more is that it can be used vertically and horizontally, giving users that extra flexibility no matter what they’re steaming

If, like me, you dread getting the ironing board out, this compact is a game changer. I originally bought it to steam clothes I was listing on Vinted, but I soon found a myriad of uses for it, from decreasing my own outfits, to ensuring my bedding remained wrinkle-free
I love how light it is, with the design being nicely balanced so I can steam multiple items without getting an arm ache. It makes light work of cotton and linen, though synthetic fibres require a few extra passes
One downside is that the cord is only 2m, which means I have to use an extension cord to steam the king size bedding while it’s on the bed. And while it can be used upright or horizontally, the latter only works effectively if the water tank is full. But generally, for those steaming clothes, they’ll be using it upright for the most part, so this won’t be a huge issue

Elsewhere, this Grey & White Clothes Steamer is £21 at Dunelm and while it has a larger 230ml tank, its cord is shorter and it doesn’t fold down, making it better suited for home use rather than travelling
At Amazon, the Reemix Steamer for Clothes is now £17.99, down from £24.99. It folds down, and even comes with an upholstery attachment and a 4.2 star shopper rating
The Philips Series 3000 has received plenty of positive feedback from shoppers, with many saying they’ve almost stopped using their iron altogether. One said: “Say goodbye to the age old iron and ironing board. This little gem takes all the drudgery out of removing creases from your clothes. It’s fast and efficient. No hesitation in recommending this garment steamer.”

Like myself, one found that the cord was on the short side, writing: “A good steamer and does the job beautifully. My only issue is the length of the plug wire, it is far too short and as a result, I have to move my items close by rather than on a wall. Make sure your plug sockets are near.”

Just fill the water up and it’s pretty instant steam. Great on jumpers that you can’t iron and as a refresh for coats and scarves too.”
