San Francisco Giants outfielder Harrison Bader is done for the season due to a foot injury that wasn’t helped by a late-night scooter accident last weekend
Giants manager Tony Vitello told reporters Thursday that Bader is out for the rest of 2026 However, Vitello reportedly said that was already the case due to Bader’s pre-existing case of left plantar fasciitis, rather than the scooter accident

Vitello reportedly said the team was still sorting through the details of that accident
A report from SFist provided new details earlier Thursday. Bader’s accident reportedly occurred at around 2 a.m. on Sunday, when the 32-year-old crashed his scooter into a fire engine in the vicinity of Balboa Cafe, a popular bar in San Francisco’s Marina District
“According to a witness, Bader’s scooter crashed into the back of a San Francisco Fire Department fire engine [SFFD Station 16 is on that block] the wheel of which then rolled over his foot, causing major injury.”
This somehow isn’t the first time Bader has been alleged to have driven a scooter into a truck, as he was suspended from the Florida baseball team in college following an incident in which he allegedly hit a parked Ford F-150

The Giants had previously released a statement Tuesday saying a scooter accident had further injured the foot and required further evaluation, with an MRI scheduled. The 32-year-old Bader hasn’t played since May 29 and was previously scheduled to see a specialist in Indianapolis on Monday to evaluate his plantar fasciitis
Bader joined the Giants this offseason on a two-year, $20.5 million deal in free agency. The former Gold Glover remains one of MLB’s better defenders in center field when healthy, but struggled to replicate the production from his career year at the plate in 2025
In his 30 games this season, he slashed .170/.198/.358 with five homers and no stolen bases. His 54 OPS+, which adjusts for the pitcher-friendly Oracle Park, still represents a new low in a career not known for consistent hitting
