The Dallas Cowboys opened training camp Wednesday, building toward a better year than their 2025 campaign. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer stressed this would be one of the more physical camps Dallas has had in recent years, and the first session reflected that mindset. There was plenty of competition on both sides of the ball as players got their first chance to make an impression in front of coaches.A few players stood out early. Rookie running back Jaydon Blue ripped off a 45-yard run that likely would have gone the distance in a game setting, giving the offense one of its biggest plays of the day. The defense had its share of highlights as well, including a forced fumble by Rashan Gary, who jarred the ball loose from running back Phil Mafah. It was the kind of back-and-forth day teams like to see at the start of camp, with neither side clearly winning the day.As is often the case this time of year, practice wasn’t without an injury concern as safety P.J. Locke appeared to suffer a lower-leg injury and had to leave the field.
The Cowboys weren’t the only ones dealing with injuries as training camps happened around the country. Carolina and New Orleans suffered major blows on Wednesday. Meanwhile, two top running backs are staging camp hold-ins in attempts to become the NFL’s highest paid at the position
