The information is reporting that there is a new potential um competitor in China that is mass producing some of the elements that go into chipmaking equipment that is largely made by ASML. If you take a look um at Alpha space, our Alpha space platform, here’s a look at the at the chip makers here and ASML is down more than 6% today, but you see the the selling is more widespread

This is uh probably the the you know, biggest news. Uh uh there’s something called uh uh lithography which these chip makers uh use these machines. There’s lithography machines to basically print a design on on a circuit board. That’s more or less what what that does. Uh and so, uh in China, uh they don’t have access to the best of the best that ASML makes. That’s uh extreme ultraviolet lithography machines. Uh but they’re currently trying to develop those and what they’ve seemingly developed uh are kind of like the step down from those called uh deep ultraviolet uh lithography machines. And so, uh there’s a company there that’s working on it, uh according to the information, uh and that would allow uh Chinese chip makers to develop more advanced processors. Now, the extreme ultraviolet uh technology, that’s kind of still a few years off potentially, but this does allow uh the uh China to get access to potentially more advanced chips, not top of the line, but more advanced chips in their own home country. And so they would uh lessen their dependence on other countries’ chips.
