Dutch hydrogen refuelling firm Resato Hydrogen Technology (RHT) has filed for a suspension of payments, stating that its immediate-term finances are insufficient to continue operations
The application could stave off bankruptcy as the firm seeks new investors to relaunch. It said discussions are underway with “several concrete leads” and highlights its openness to partners, particularly with valuable alliances
An administrator has been appointed, and the next steps are being examined
The company did not reveal the extent of the financial struggles, but said it was “fully committed” to ensuring it could continue
RHT spun out of high-pressure solutions firm Resato in 2022 to design and manufacture hydrogen refuelling stations for cars, trucks, and buses, as well as tube trailers and heavy-duty mobility
According to its website, it operates 80 refuelling stations across Europe, claiming a 95% uptime across them
As recently as June, RHT opened a hydrogen production and fuelling station for public buses in Cannes, France
The announcement comes despite increased support for hydrogen mobility across Europe, following several years of stagnant orders
Similar to the electrolyser market, during earlier momentum, various refuelling players emerged ready to capitalise on funding schemes that failed to turn into significant real-world success
Hydrogen refuelling stations have regularly faced low utilisation due to limited vehicle roll-outs. Government funding is now increasingly trying to align vehicle and infrastructure deployments
