Michigan Democratic voters were asked in a recent poll about the 2026 U.S. Senate primary and their views on various topics
A poll conducted by WDIV/Detroit News asked Democratic voters from across the state about their opinions on various topics in the 2026 primary election. A portion of these questions focused on their views of federal leadership

Here’s the exact wording of the question that was asked over the phone: Do you believe Chuck Schumer is the right person to lead Democrats in the US Senate or do you think another Democratic Senator should lead the party in the Senate?
- Right person — 16.0%
- Someone new — 65.0%
- Depends/ Don’t Know/ Refused — 19.0%
Here’s the exact wording of the question that was asked over the phone: Do you believe Hakeem Jeffries is the right person to lead Democrats in the US House of Representatives or do you think another Democrat should lead the party in the House?
- Right person — 42.2%
- Someone new — 32.5%
- Depends/ Don’t Know/ Refused — 25.3%
Here’s the exact wording of the question that was asked over the phone: In 2024, some members of the Democratic party led the uncommitted movement against Joe Biden and in many cases did not endorse Kamala Harris against Donald Trump. Do you support leaders of the Uncommitted movement taking a bigger role in the Democratic Party or do you think they should have a smaller role in the Democratic Party?
