Recreation Director Mac Stephens said during a recent City Council meeting that before the center fully opens that they will be starting with a ribbon cutting and membership drive which they plan to have on July 11 from noon to 4 p.m
“We will have a Recreation and Wellness membership drive and tour. We will have food trucks and quite a few vendors from around the area passing out information,” Stephens said
Membership pricing was also announced with seasonal, daily, and monthly options
Currently the prices for kids between the ages of 5 and 13 range from $10 to $25, depending on residency
For youths between 14 and 18 years old, the monthly price for residents is $15 and $40 for non-residents. Adults between 19 and 59 years old, costs add up to $20 or $45 per month, with annual memberships costing $180 or $405 for non-residents. A full list of their pricing can be found on the city’s website
Although the center isn’t open yet, some people, including youths enrolled in the city’s Panther Summer Camp, have already been inside as they started to use some of the space in early June for their programming while the rest of the center waited for exercise and lounge equipment to be delivered
Stephens said that starting July 8 they will be holding several programs in the center even though it still won’t be fully open, including a basketball clinic for ages for kids and a strength and conditioning group class for adults July 8-25
“I’ll focus on core strength and conditioning, and also focus on strength basics,” Stephens said. “Showing proper techniques and how to use all of this new equipment properly.”
